Sweden is facing a gigantic transformation of the energy system, and in that transformation, RISE will play a big part. Together with industry, academia, and the public sector, we develop competitive solutions and conditions that drive sustainable development forward. But we need to grow, and we need your help. Your help to find new solutions for a sustainable future, together. Do you want to become one of us? We hope so!

About us
At Energy Technology Center in the Department of Biorefinery and Energy, research and development is conducted in the areas of sustainable fuels, fossil-free energy solutions, computer-based process optimization and high value-added materials. Most of our projects are of an applied nature and -take place in close collaboration with companies and organizations. Our projects often include both theoretical modeling and experimental campaigns, and we develop new methods and experimental setups to find answers to our current research questions.  To characterize the materials that are included in and produced from the processes we study, we have an extensive park of advanced analysis instruments such as SEM, TGA, BET and XRD. Soon we will install an ESEM / STEM-EDS with high temperature in situ possibilities. We have previously performed very advanced microscope studies in collaboration with external parties.
We are now looking for a researcher who can take overall responsibility for our analysis instruments with an emphasis on ESEM / STEM-EDS and participate in the development of research areas linked to these.

About the role
As the person responsible for our advanced analysis instruments, you will initially lead the start-up of our ESEM / STEM-EDS. Together with our research teams, you will apply the instrument in our ongoing projects in, for example, green carbon materials, catalysts for biofuel production and materials for carbon dioxide capture. You will have overall responsibility for our analysis instruments and carry out your own analyzes as well as supervise your colleagues in their analyzes and evaluation of the results from these. Together with your colleagues, you will participate in the development of our research and business activities through, for example, applications, customer contacts and new collaborations, with an emphasis on the opportunities that our analysis instruments provide. The location for the role is Piteå.

Who are you?
We are looking for you who have experience of advanced analysis instruments and an interest in using your skills to develop our instrument park. You have experience with one or more of the following instruments: ESEM / STEM, TEM, SEM, TGA, BET and XRD. We are happy to see that you have a PhD in a relevant area. You have good knowledge of English in speech and writing. Knowledge of Swedish is an advantage.

As a person, you are driven, structured, a good problem solver and can work independently. Since you will guide your colleagues in the use of our analysis instruments and have internal and external contacts around these, it is important that you are a team player and can present and explain the application of the instruments to others with different experience and background.

Are we right for each other?

We cannot promise you an easy task, but we can promise you dedicated colleagues and some truly engaging societal challenges to tackle. You will get to work in a dynamic environment offering professional and personal development opportunities. At RISE, we want you to succeed and feel good, because together with your colleagues you contribute to a sustainable future and to securing a leading position for Swedish industry and research globally. RISE can give you the chance to make a real difference. Welcome to Sweden’s Research Institute and Innovation Partner.
