Are you interested in sustainable food production and consumption, and more specifically in sustainable assessment models and environmental impacts of food? Do you have a PhD in Techno-economic analysis, Life Cycle Assessment or systems analysis and have a genuine interest in food production or processing?  Then maybe you are the one we are looking for!

About the role
We are now applying for a postdoctoral fellow to plan and perform research linked to new research centre FINEST (Food Innovation Enabling Sustainable Transition), funded by the FORMAS the Swedish Research Council for sustainable development.

Your research task within FINEST is linked to the development of sustainability indicators to guide research and stakeholders from early development to implementation. Your task will be to plan and perform a post doc research project focusing on developing and validating methods for the evaluation of new and novel resource efficient/more circular food chains. You will work closely together with the FINEST partners providing you with a network of researchers and innovative food companies highly interested in bringing your research into concrete actions. The work will be performed in close collaboration with other researchers with expertise within life cycle assessment (LCA), food processing and food production.

Based on the overall project idea, you are expected to take responsibility for the final design of the project and the project deliverables, including establishing necessary internal and external contacts, required for the project to succeed. You will be assisted by senior scientists within the team of Sustainable Consumption and Production, providing key expertise on environmental assessments of food and food processing. You will also benefit from networks and knowledge transfer from both internal and external projects at RISE, whereof several – including FINEST – engage both academic and industrial partners.

You will be a part of Sustainable Consumption and Production at RISE, a group which consists of 2 units comprising 31 persons, with expertise on sustainability assessments of food consumption and production using Life cycle assessment (LCA) and a holistic perspective, to identify opportunities for a sustainable transformation of the food system along the entire food supply chain.

The position is a full-time employment at RISE for 1,5 years. The location will be in Lund (preferably) or Gothenburg. Part of the work will be carried out on site at a regional food cluster.

The project will be run in parallel with another post doc-project within FINEST focusing on sustainable nutrition.
