Our ICE Data center unit is growing and we are now looking for a devops engineer or software/operations developer with an interest in data engineering and distributed native cloud computing.

About the role
Our operations in Luleå have Europe's leading and largest laboratory for tests and experiments for data centers, AI and related systems. We work together with partners and customers from both industry and academia to develop sustainable and energy-efficient cloud services, telecom edge networks, data innovation platforms (e.g., the Swedish national space data lab) and more.

ICE test & demo data center consists of 1000s of servers in a number of modules with Openstack, Kubernetes and HDFS clusters. Most are Linux based and the hardware consists of Dell servers, Open Compute servers and several GPU servers. Part of the facility is used for facility research and two modules for software research and experiments.

As a devops engineer within IT infrastructure software in our team, you get the opportunity to work in a growing and leading institute with great development opportunities. In your role as devops engineer within IT infrastructure software for data engineering and distributed systems, you will primarily work with projects in an international context, software platforms and services for companies in data processing, AI and satellite data systems and distributed software systems. For these areas, you will work with development and operations of IT infrastructure software in innovation and research projects.

By participating in developing solutions and strategies for IT infrastructures, you contribute to the development of Swedish industry to keep it at the forefront internationally, able to meet the needs of customers and other stakeholders. The position is a permanent full-time employment. The workplace is in Luleå.

The assignments have great variety, which brings new exciting opportunities every week. In your role, you also have contact with our customers and partners. Your most important tasks are mainly to:

• Develop the RISE ICE Datacenter offering by working with development of ICE infrastructure and information systems.
• Experimentally develop computing and software systems in projects together with colleagues.
• Together with the ICE Datacenter team develop new ideas and put them into practice.
• Work with international contacts to develop RISE ICE services and projects.
• Use tools and processes to deploy, run and maintain all software and equipment in the data center.
• Optimize the operation of the technical systems and be responsible for high technical availability of software services, machines, service and maintenance.

• You have experience of qualified work as an developer/operations engineer. Previous experience of IT operations from research or academic environment is an advantage.
• You have knowledge of Linux and hardware system support in an Internet operating environment. Knowledge of enterprise networks (Cisco switches and routers), firewalls (iptables), virtual networks (SDN) and storage equipment. Knowledge of Linux, openstack, kubernetes, ceph and similar software systems.
• Other knowledge that would be valued is programming in Python, Javascript, Shell (bash). As well as experience in hypervisors (KVM, OpenStack), containers (Docker, Kubernetes), load balancing and replication, databases (relations, and time series), routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), version control system (git)

You have a minimum of a master's degree in computer science engineering or equivalent, with a focus on distributed software and IT systems. We are positive if you have a PhD degree. You have preferable 5+ years of work experience in product and software development. We are also open to newly graduated engineers who have the right educational background, high goals and great passion. As our partners are both in and outside Sweden, we see that you have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.
