If this sounds exciting, we are now looking for a Director of the Volume and Flow unit that belongs to the Department of Measurement Technology. Measurement Technology is a national centre for quality-assured measurement technology, metrology. We develop traceable ways of measuring both classic devices and new, more behavior-related methods in collaboration with business and the rest of society, for example measurement sensors in self-driving vehicles, new energy solutions and measurement of health for individuals. RISE Measurement Technology is the Swedish National Metrology Institute (NMI, national measurement centre), which entails responsibility for maintaining metrological traceability in accordance with international agreements. The unit Volume and Flow is the national laboratory for measuring volume and flow. We have metrological competences and services in the areas of volume, liquid flows, high liquid pressures, district heating, petrochemical industry, etc. We are also working with field calibrations.

About the position
As Director you will manage a unit of about 20 people. Together with the department’s management team and your coworkers, you will work through the overall objectives for RISE and create clear and concrete goals for your unit. You will be responsible for providing a clear picture of RISE’s vision and role in the innovation system. The goal is to generate tangible results, both quantitative and qualitative, and satisfied customers. You will work closely with our customers and you will help us to further develop our various offers.

You will be present and available without sacrificing your role as a representative of the employer. You will help to strengthen our capacity for innovation and research development together with colleagues within RISE and with our partners. We expect you to have a strong network in the business sector and the public sector, as well as with universities and colleges. As a Director, you will report to the Vice President and the location for the position is Borås. Some travel may be involved.

Who are you?
To be successful in the role, we expect you to be a natural leader and role model, who motivates optimal performance from your coworkers. You are responsive and a good listener. What motivates you is delivering benefit to others and engaging your coworkers through inspiring and courageous leadership. You involve and coach your coworkers in their task of creating customer benefit and clear results. You are passionately interested in different domain areas and how they can work together to breed innovation, strengthen research and our testing and demo activities, and increase our commercial focus.

We expect you to have a professional approach and inspire confidence in both customers and coworkers. It is very important that you are a team player with a definite ability to cooperate. You will have a MSc in electronics, physics, mechanical engineering or similar, and you will speak and write Swedish and English without any trouble. Furthermore, you have at least 5 years experience in management or leadership roles and experience of public funded research projects or proposals. If you have led research and/or development projects it is a merit
