There is a place that not everyone knows of. A place that, with its combined brainpower, works wholeheartedly to make the world a better place. And because of its independence can be uncompromising in that purpose. Who knows that the way to solve a mission is to be creative and have fun. This place is called RISE and we have an offer that is difficult to resist. Exciting assignments that do good.

  • Do you want to help Swedish industry maintain and strengthen its competitiveness, both nationally and internationally?
  • Are you an enthusiastic and positive leader even in challenging situations?
  • Are you someone who takes responsibility and makes things happen?
  • Do you think that it goes without saying that there should be cooperation across technological and business areas for the creation of both new business and new innovations?

If this sounds exciting, we are now looking for a Director of the Resources from Waste unit that belongs to the Department of System setup and Service Innovation. The Department enables innovation and conversion processes for trade and industry. The core activities include system analysis and conversion, service innovation, circular business models, collaborative processes and policy development.

The unit Resources from Waste works with circular material flows through material logistics, material recycling (e.g. construction waste, etc.), food waste (collection, value-adding processes) and ashes from waste incineration. Through this work, the unit aims in an initial stage to process waste streams, and in the second stage to create value from the ashes resulting from the incineration of circulated waste. Process management and different forms of lobbying for a circular transition of society and business form an important element of the unit’s work.

About the position
As Director you will manage a unit of about 20 people. Together with the department’s management team and your coworkers, you will work through the overall objectives for RISE and create clear and concrete goals for your unit. You will be responsible for providing a clear picture of RISE’s vision and role in the innovation system. The goal is to generate tangible results, both quantitative and qualitative, and satisfied customers. You will work closely with our customers and you will help us to further develop our various offers.

You will be present and available without sacrificing your role as a representative of the employer. You will help to strengthen our capacity for innovation and research development together with colleagues within RISE and with our partners. We expect you to have a strong network in the business sector and the public sector, as well as with universities and colleges. As a Director, you will report to the Vice President and the location for the position is Gothenburg or Stockholm. Some travel may be involved.

Who are you?
To be successful in the role, we expect you to be a natural leader and role model, who motivates optimal performance from your coworkers. You are responsive and a good listener. What motivates you is delivering benefit to others and engaging your coworkers through inspiring and courageous leadership. You involve and coach your coworkers in their task of creating customer benefit and clear results. You are passionately interested in different domain areas and how they can work together to breed innovation, strengthen research and our testing and demo activities, and increase our commercial focus.

We expect you to have a professional approach and inspire confidence in both customers and coworkers. It is very important that you are a team player with a definite ability to cooperate. You will have previous experience of leadership, a university education or equivalent that is relevant to the unit, and you speak and write Swedish and English without any trouble. Furthermore, we believe you have:

  • Experience from wast management, resource efficient use of materials and circular economy.
  • Experience from business development within industry/enterprice or institute.

It is of benefit if you have led research and/or development projects.
