Welcome to our team at RISE. We within the unit Wood building technology at RISE, Research Institutes of Sweden, are continuously driving the development of climate smart and sustainable alternative for increased wood building technology national and international. Our focus area are research and development of products and components or building elements/ structures in wood or bio-based materials for future applications. With our research we are writing history where we take building technology, material combination of bio-based materials and manufacturing process into year 2030, 2045.

About the position
The Wood building technology unit has various unique competences available within the team, right now we are looking for you with design experience. Your main tasks are design, simulation and sizing of wood products, components and building modules for the construction industry. Our work is mainly done in projects where we follow the RISE project model. In the projects you participate in or run, you are expected to transfer your design ideas or knowledge to real experiments or tests in one of RISE over 100 test beds or at unique construction sites. Individually achieved project results and conclusions must be continuously reported to the project stakeholders. We expect that you can create unique project quotations that meet the customer's wishes and requirements and follow up the quotation results.
The position is firstly located in Skellefteå but placement in Stockholm, Växjö, Borås or Gothenburg may also be possible. The employment is permanent employment with access as soon as possible. Probation period can be applied.
Who are you?
We expect that you have an academic degree, primarily a Master of Science in Engineering or PhD degree in construction or materials science, with a focus on wood, at least 5 years of professional experience in structural engineering and strength calculations, or other experience that we value equivalent.
You have a good ability to express yourself both in speech and writing in Swedish and English. Swedish B-driving licenses are required as many of our customers are located outside the big cities. The work is often conducted in close cooperation with customers where each assignment is unique. To succeed in the role, you need to be curious, driven, innovative and responsive to the customer's wishes and requirements.
