Digitization, greenhouse effect, sustainability, electromobility and razor-sharp international competition are examples of challenges that Sweden and Swedish industry face. RISE participates and contributes to solutions to these challenges by creating research, innovation, and development projects in collaboration with other actors. At RISE, you will work in a very stimulating environment with competent and friendly colleagues who are passionate about making a difference.

About us
RISE Measurement Technology is a national center for quality-assured measurement technology and is the Swedish National Metrology Institute (NMI), which means that we actively collaborate with international bodies such as BIPM (International Bureau of Weights and Measures) as well as with academia, industry, and authorities, both nationally and internationally, to strengthen Sweden's competitiveness. In national and international collaboration, we develop new measurement methods for classical quantities and applications, but also new more behavior-related methods.

It includes everything from research and development of methods based on academic basic research, high voltage measurement in smart grids and measurement sensors in self-driving vehicles, to measurement of health for individuals linked to compensation models in welfare. We have recently increased our efforts in dynamic measurement technology in the mechanical field and need more researchers who help us to develop technologies to be able to measure fast dynamic processes in many different applications in a quality-assured way.

We also work with completely new technologies in traditional areas such as weighing and pressure measurement, based on quantum technology and physical constants as alternatives to traditional methods.

About the role
You will participate in and lead research and development projects and work in close collaboration with other staff. You will be involved in both national and international research projects in dynamic measurement technology and other of our areas, but also work as a problem solver on behalf of our customers in consulting form. You are also expected to work actively with your own initiatives to develop your own area through networking and work to increase our growth by actively seeking funding for your business. Your main tasks will consist of:

  • Lead and participate in our research and development projects.
  • Contribute with cutting-edge expertise in areas relevant to us.
  • Participate in and develop national and international networks.
  • Actively work to strengthen our growth by working with applications.

To succeed in the role, you need to have a strong background in research in a relevant field, a good understanding of technology and the will to create benefits for Sweden. The service offers great opportunities to develop professionally and to be involved in the research and development of new services and methods both internally and externally. It also includes tasks of technical development work and project management. To help you at RISE, there is an innovation infrastructure consisting of colleagues' expertise in virtually all conceivable technology areas - but also other areas such as innovation and behavioral science - labs, test and demo environments and processes.

Who are you?
You are inspired by working with applied research and development of technology in various measurement systems. You want your skills to benefit Sweden. You have a research degree in experimental physics, mathematics, electronics, mechanics, or a similar field with a strong drive to develop both yourself and your field. You also find it easy to communicate and collaborate with others, but do not become paralyzed by working alone. You can switch between holistic and detailed perspectives and can quickly familiarize yourself with new or adjacent areas. You are driven by a natural curiosity and like challenges.
