Sweden is facing a gigantic transformation of the energy system, and in that field, RISE has a natural role. Together with business and the public sector, we develop competitive solutions and conditions that drive sustainable development forward. And we need to be more. We need your help. Help test and implement new solutions together. Help to show that it is possible to achieve the climate goals with sustainable growth. Do you want to become one of us? We hope so!

About us
The Energy Technology unit within the Department of Biorefinery and Energy conducts research and development in thermochemical conversion processes and electrification of the process industry. The business includes projects linked to gasification processes, combustion processes, plasma technology, carbon dioxide capture, green carbon materials, non-intrusive diagnostics and process simulation. In recent years, our business has expanded significantly and we are now looking for one or more researchers with expertise in our fields.

Biorefinery Test Bed
RISE Research Institutes of Sweden are leading player in the development of the future bioeconomy and biorefinery. With a unique set of research areas, test beds and demonstration environments, we form a comprehensive solution for the conversion of biomass into green products, which have previously been fossil-based. On behalf of the Government, we are building a hub for research in biorefinery development and carrying out a major modernization of our test beds as well as a number of new investments to improve the conditions for the commercialization of new solutions for a circular bioeconomy in an international center.  Read more about the venture. Do you want to become one of us? We hope so!

About the role
As a researcher with us, you will initially strengthen our research groups within BECCS / U (bioenery carbon capture and storage / utilization) and green carbon materials, areas where we have several funded and ongoing projects. Our projects often include both theoretical modeling and experimental campaigns, and we develop new methods and experimental setups to answer the current research questions. In your role as a researcher, you are expected to design experiments and modeling in order to answer the research questions, interpret results from these and compile them in scientific articles. Together with your colleagues, you will also participate in the development of our business through, for example, applications, customer contacts and new collaborations.

The location for the role is Piteå.

Who are you?
We are looking for you who have a PhD in the field of thermochemical conversion processes (combustion, gasification, liquefaction) and / or electrification of the process industry. You have good knowledge of English in speech and writing. Knowledge of Swedish is meritorious. Furthermore, you have good computer skills, mainly in the Office package.

As a person, you are driven, structured, a good problem solver and can work independently. You are good at compiling research results in scientific articles and can also present and explain your work to others with different experiences and backgrounds.

Are we right for each other?
At RISE, we like different things, and we are convinced that diversity contributes to an innovative environment where we together challenge boundaries and develop new knowledge and skills for the future. With us, passionate problem solvers meet to solve some of the world's most important, and perhaps funniest, problems. We cannot promise you an easy job, but what we can promise you is a bunch of committed colleagues and some exciting societal challenges to tackle. You will work in a dynamic environment that gives you development opportunities both professionally and personally. With us, you get the opportunity to make a real difference.
