Sweden is facing a gigantic transformation of the energy system, and RISE has a natural role in that work. Together with business and the public sector, we develop competitive solutions and conditions that drive sustainable development forward. But we need more people. We need your help. Help us test and implement new solutions together. Help us show that it is possible to reach the climate goals with sustainable growth. Do you want to become one of us? We hope so!

Help us find solutions to society's challenges
RISE Research Institutes of Sweden and the subsidiary RISE Processum are leading players in the development of the bioeconomy and biorefinery of the future. With a unique set of research areas, testbeds and demonstration environments, we form an overall solution for converting biomass into green products, which were previously fossil based. On behalf of the government, we are building a hub for research in biorefinery development, are carrying out a major modernization of our testbeds, and are making several new investments to improve the conditions for commercialization of new solutions for a circular bioeconomy in an international center.

About us
The Energy Technology unit within the Biorefinery and Energy department conducts research and development in thermochemical conversion processes and electrification of the process industry. The business includes projects linked to gasification processes, combustion processes, plasma technology, carbon dioxide capture, green carbon materials, non-contact measurement methods and process simulation. In recent years, our business has expanded greatly and we are now looking for a research engineer with expertise in optics.

About the role
As a research engineer with us, you will initially strengthen our research groups within non-contact measurement methods, areas where we have several funded and ongoing projects. Our projects often include both theoretical modeling and experimental campaigns, and we develop new methods and experimental setups to answer the current research questions. In your role as a research engineer, you are expected to design experiments and modeling in order to answer the research questions, interpret the results from these and compile them into scientific articles. Together with your colleagues, you will also participate in the development of our business through, for example, applications, customer contacts and new collaborations.

Location for the role is Piteå.

Who are you?
We are looking for you who has at least a master's degree in engineering, for example in technical physics, mechanical or energy engineering, or have acquired equivalent knowledge in other ways. You have work experience and good knowledge in optics and laser spectroscopy. It is advantageous if you also have experience in combustion or gasification technology. Experience with Matlab and processing of digital signals is also meritorious. You have good knowledge of written and spoken Swedish and English and good computer skills, mainly in the Office package.

Are we right for each other?
Within RISE, we appreciate differences.  We are convinced that diversity contributes to an innovative environment where together we challenge boundaries and develop new knowledge and skills for the future. Here, passionate problem solvers meet to solve some of the world's most important, and perhaps exciting, problems. We cannot promise you an easy job, but what we can promise you is a group of committed colleagues and some exciting societal challenges to tackle. You will work in a dynamic environment that gives you development opportunities both professionally and personally. With us, you get the opportunity to make a real difference.
