Would you like to work with process simulation and techno-economic evaluation, and contribute to the development of sustainable and energy-efficient future processes for the forest industry and biomass upgrading? Then you are the one we are looking for!

To work within the RISE Bioeconomy and Health division gives you an opportunity to participate in the development of a future circular bioeconomy. Together we generate and refine research results and ideas based primarily on forest raw materials.

About the role
You will primarily work with process simulation and techno-economic analysis that contribute to the development of the sustainable and energy-efficient future biorefineries. The work encompasses a broad area of expertise, and the projects vary in scope and can have both scientific depth and direct application.

You will be part of a team that develops and applies tools for process simulation and analysis of new concepts through mass and energy balances. These, in turn, will serve as a basis for techno-economic evaluation of existing and new biorefinery processes. The ultimate goal is to further improve resource utilization, primarily in the pulp and paper industry and within novel related processes. The area is growing, and the development takes place in close collaboration with industry. You will work both within various research projects, both within RISE and for external clients.

Location: Preferably Stockholm; possibly Gothenburg. Other locations, where RISE has offices, may be agreed upon for a sufficiently qualified candidate. This is a permanent position.

Who are you?
You have at least a master's degree in engineering, preferably chemical engineering, or equivalent. Additional experience from the pulp industry, process simulation and modelling, the simulation software WinGEMS, techno-economic evaluation, programming and project management are of merit.

As a person, you are committed, curious and result-oriented, easy to collaborate with but also capable of working independently. You should be creative and interested in problem solving. Occasional business trips to customers in Sweden and abroad may occur. Good communication skills in Swedish or English, both spoken and written, are required.

Are we right for each other?
At RISE, we value variety and are convinced that diversity contributes to an innovative environment where we together challenge boundaries and develop new knowledge and skills for the future. With us, passionate problem solvers meet to solve some of the world's most important, and perhaps most fascinating, problems. We can't promise you an easy job, but what we can promise you is a team of dedicated colleagues and some exciting societal challenges to tackle. You will work in a dynamic environment that allows you to develop both professionally and personally. With us, you get the opportunity to make a real difference. Welcome to the whole of Sweden's research institute and innovation partner.
