Do you want to be part of creating RISE's new unit in inclusive system innovation? Are you a design researcher with expertise in norm criticism and inclusion and do you want to leave your mark on how we apply inclusive system design research in practice? Then you could be the person we are looking for!
About us
Now we are starting up a brand new unit that will be named Inclusive system innovation. Here we will work with the systemic understanding of design and based on service logic and applied design research we will create new knowledge, prerequisites and ability for innovation and change. Sweden needs to increase the pace of the sustainable transformation of the entire society. Then the skills, insights and solutions of all people are needed. Including more people's perspectives creates solutions for a wider social context, increases the opportunity for innovation and reduces the exclusion of large groups in society. It creates better system solutions for more people and builds resilience. We need to contribute to ensuring that more perspectives on our social system are included.
The system perspective is central as RISE focuses on norm criticism in systems to create a leverage effect on inclusion in society. The unit is part of the Prototyping society, here we always start with the human in center when we develop new solutions. We say that we are building the prototype for societal transformation. It's about creating the greatest possible benefit from the sustainable transition and digitization, but not just for some, but for everyone. It is about, for example, that when we build new social solutions, they must also work for those outside the norm. We are therefore now looking for a researcher who wants to develop this unit together with us.
About the role
In your role as a researcher within inclusive system innovation, you will primarily drive the overall direction of the unit and you will have the opportunity to leave your mark on the work we do at the unit. You will work in projects with great variety, but which are focused on system design and inclusion in different contexts. We move in an experimental field where we test, develop, and create results together with others and we do it by combining research with practical innovation work and you should be fond of co-creating solutions and applying research to actual results. In your role, you also have contact with our designers and project managers but also our project partners, and we believe that you look forward to being our leading researcher and expert within the projects.
Your most important tasks are mainly to:
The position is a permanent position with entry as soon as possible. Probationary employment can be applied.
Who are you?
As a researcher with us, we believe that you are a solution-oriented person who is driven by taking on new challenges. As the role involves daily contact with customers and other stakeholders, we believe you thrive in social contexts. Through your inclusive and forward-looking way of working, you thrive in an environment that is not always static.
You have experience in leading and participating in research projects in the field of system design or norm criticism and preferably in the intersection between the two. And preferably additional interest or track record for democracy and innovation.
You have relevant university education, preferably with a focus on gender studies and norm criticism, design, or service design. It is advantageous if you have experience of working with the public sector or industrial contexts. Since our partners are both in and outside of Sweden, we see that you have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in English. We want to make use of the qualities that diversity and an even gender distribution bring to the business. The position involves travel.
Are we right for each other?
Within RISE, we like diversity since we are convinced that it contributes to an innovative environment where we challenge boundaries and develop new knowledge and skills for the future. Here, passionate problem solvers meet to solve some of the world's most important problems. We can't promise you an easy job, but what we can promise you is a bunch of committed colleagues and some exciting societal challenges to tackle. You will work in an interesting environment that gives you development opportunities both professionally and personally. With us, you get the opportunity to make a real difference. Welcome to all of Sweden's research institutes and innovation partners.
