Digitization, climate change, sustainability, electromobility and razor-sharp international competition are just that a few challenges as Sweden and Swedish industry stands in front of. RISE contributes to the solutions by to create research, innovation and development projects together with other actors.

We are now looking for researchers/developers who can strengthen our area of measurement technology with a focus on mechanics and dynamics. RISE contributes to solutions for this area within many different industries in Sweden. We create and run research, innovation and development projects in collaboration with other actors. At RISE, you will work in a very stimulating environment with competent and pleasant colleagues who are passionate about to make a difference.

About us
RISE is the National Metrology Institute (NMI) of Sweden, which means that we, as leading experts in measurement technology, help the whole of Sweden with measurement technology problems and questions as well as participating in the metrological development in collaboration with other countries. Through our NMI laboratories, we develop and maintain the traceability of a large number of physical quantities through our processes and " state - of -the-art" equipment. We develop new ways of measuring with both classic units and new behavior-related methods in collaboration with academia, business and the rest of society.

Within our unit, we face several major challenges, including rapid measurements of mechanical and thermodynamic processes and new definitions to be developed into practically useful principles. Our work covers all steps in measurement, from needs analysis and trial planning to analysis and implementation of the results. Our work also includes customer activities, routine tasks as well as specific assignments of a one-off nature.

At RISE, you will work in a very stimulating environment with competent and nice colleagues who are passionate about making a difference.

About the role
You will participate in and lead national and international research and development projects in close collaboration with your colleagues. Customer assignments are also an important part where we test and calibrate different types of measurement systems. We are also problem solvers and trainers for our clients in consulting form. Our research focus on dynamic measurement technology, quality-assured measurements of fast mechanical processes in many different applications as well as new ways to realize and measure mechanical quantities. Several other areas within measurement technology will also be relevant for this role.

We now need people with competence in vacuum technology, thermodynamics, mechanics, optics, signal processing and mathematical modelling. If you have skills in one or more of these areas and are curious about any of the others, you might be the right person for us.

You are expected to actively work on your own initiative to develop the area through networking and work to increase our growth by seeking funding for your business.

Yours main duties comes to consist of:

You are inspired by working with applied research and development of the technology in various measuring systems. You have a research degree or equivalent competence in experimental physics, mathematics, electronics, mechanics or a similar field with a strong personal drive to develop both yourself and your field. Knowledge in one or more of the areas of vacuum technology, thermodynamics, optics, signal analysis and modeling is advantageous.

You easily communicate and collaborate with others, but can also work independently. It is important that you can switch between a holistic and detailed perspective and have the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new or neighboring areas. You are driven by a natural curiosity, like new challenges and are self-motivating with your own initiative.
