About us
The Swedish government aims to strengthen the competitiveness of livestock production for food by ensuring that the latest knowledge, both nationally and internationally, benefits Swedish producers.

The Swedish Knowledge Center for Animal Husbandry, a new unit within RISE to be built together with experts in the field and with experts in knowledge transfer, advisory services, and communication. Together with stakeholders, we will identify the needs of livestock production and develop models and advisory methods that make the knowledge useful to farmers.

The Knowledge Center will not conduct research or advisory services itself but will act as a link between research and advisory services, collecting knowledge from various sources and making it useful for advisory firms and farmers.

About the role
As an expert in our team, you will work on gathering, compiling, and transferring knowledge regarding the design, planning, and construction of buildings for livestock. This is for the purpose of achieving a sustainable Swedish livestock production that contributes to animal welfare, a safe working environment, and profitability. You will be an important team player in a dedicated department with high expertise that values close collaboration with both colleagues within RISE and our partners.

You will have a key role in gathering and coordinating different expertise in agricultural technology and design, planning and construction of large animal facilities with our other experts, industry partners, and other RISE competencies. This will contribute to knowledge transfer based on the current and future needs of livestock producers. Specifically, you will coordinate our interdisciplinary themes on livestock housing in sustainable livestock production, engage in dialogue, drive knowledge transfer, and contribute to conveying scientific knowledge and proven experience to farmers and other relevant stakeholders.

You will be part of a team consisting of various experts with competencies in different animal species, livestock housing, business economics, and knowledge transfer – all aimed at strengthening livestock production in Sweden. You report to the Director of The Knowledge Center.

Who You Are
You have at least a university-level education in agricultural engineering, building technology, or a related field. You have experience and knowledge of the entire building process in agriculture, especially planning, design, and construction of all different kind of livestock facilities. It is desirable that you have experience working on interdisciplinary projects, as well as experience in information dissemination and identifying the knowledge needs of farmers in national/international projects.

Having at least 5 years of professional experience in the field of livestock housing and facilities, information initiatives/training/advisory services for agricultural stakeholders is advantageous.

As a person, you are focused, committed, driven, and skilled in building relationships with researchers, advisors, and farmers. You work in a goal-oriented and structured manner, with a high ability to quickly grasp information and events. Your thinking is strategic, and you have a holistic perspective.

You are proactive and systematic in your approach, embrace innovative thinking, and are brave enough to challenge existing practices when necessary. You collaborate effectively with people in different roles and value the creation of value through cooperation with others.

Fluency in both spoken and written Swedish and English is required. The position is located in Uppsala or Lund and involves some travel; hence a valid driver's license (B) is required.
