Do you, just like us, want to help Swedish industry maintain and strengthen its competitiveness, both nationally and internationally? Are you an enthusiastic and positive leader even in challenging situations? Do you believe that collaboration across technology and business areas is essential for creating new businesses and innovations? Then we have the right position for you!

We are now looking for a Director/Unit Manager for the Electric Power System Unit, which is part of the Measurement Technology Department.

About Us
The department offers research, services, and projects in applied measurement technology and metrology and is Sweden's National Metrology Institute (NMI) that works with a wide range of industries. The Electric power system unit is a rapidly growing operation with an expansive portfolio of research and innovation projects that combine technical development with studies on the future functioning of the electricity market. Electrification and the transition to a sustainable energy system give rise to a range of new challenges and opportunities, and we are experiencing an increased need and demand for applied research from various stakeholders.

About the Role
As the unit manager of Electrical power systems, you will play an important role in advancing the development of the Swedish energy system and strengthening the competitiveness of Swedish businesses. In your capacity as the leader of the Electrical Power Systems unit, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of researchers and engineers tasked with project management and the execution of technical and economic analyses within the field of Electric power systems. This work is carried out in close collaboration with both industrial stakeholders and universities.

As Director, you will create the conditions for effective work and, when necessary, provide support to your team in setting priorities and ensuring the optimal functioning of the unit. The unit currently comprises 16 employees based in both Gothenburg and Stockholm. In your role you will have personnel, budget, and workplace safety responsibilities, and you will oversee staffing plans, recruitment, and procurement. You will also be part of the leadership team for the Measurement Technology division and participate in steering committees both internally and in external forums to drive the development of the organization.

The location is either Gothenburg or Stockholm. We currently operate in a hybrid work format where most employees choose to split their working time between the office and a home office, and it's important that you as a manager can lead in this way. Travel between Gothenburg and Stockholm will be necessary.

Who Are You?
To succeed in the role of Director within the Electrical power systems group, we expect that you're well-acquainted with the subject matter. You have a PhD in engineering or a master's degree in a relevant field. You have several years of experience in research or consulting within the field of Electric power systems.  Furthermore, you have at least a few years of experience in management or leadership and preferably experience in publicly funded research projects or applications.

As an individual, you are creative, collaborative, and ready to take on new challenges. You have excellent communication skills and can convey technical concepts to a diverse audience, including technical experts and non-technical stakeholders such as financiers and industrial collaborators. You will be in contact with external partners and clients, so it is essential that you are outgoing and comfortable with networking and customer-centric work. Proficiency in both Swedish and English at a professional level, both spoken and written, is required.
