Do you want to play a major role in the development of the Swedish electrical and energy system? Are you an enthusiastic and responsive leader? Do you believe that collaboration across technical and operational areas is essential for creating new businesses and innovations? Then we have the right position for you!

About us
We are currently seeking a Director/Unit Manager for the Electric Power System Unit within the Measurement Technology Department. The department offers research, services, and projects in applied measurement technology and metrology and is Sweden's National Metrology Institute (NMI) working with a large number of industries.

The Electric Power System Unit is a rapidly growing operation with an expansive portfolio of research and innovation projects that combine technical development with studies on the future functioning of the electricity market. Electrification and the transition to a sustainable energy system present a range of new challenges and opportunities, and we are experiencing an increased need and demand for applied research from various stakeholders. We currently have 15 employees located in Gothenburg and Stockholm with a good mix of age and gender.

About the role
As the manager of the Electric Power System Unit, you will play a central role in advancing the development of the Swedish energy system and strengthening the competitiveness of Swedish industry. You will lead a group of researchers and engineers responsible for project management and conducting technical and economic analyses in the field of electrical power. This work is done in close collaboration with both industrial partners and universities.

As Director, you will create conditions for efficient work and support employees in prioritization as needed, as well as support the operations in the best possible way. You have personnel, budget, and work environment responsibilities. You’re also responsible for the unit's strategic development and growth, which includes strategy and business plans, recruitment, etc. You are part of the management team for the Measurement Technology Department and participate in steering groups both internally and in external forums to develop the operations.

The location is either Gothenburg or Stockholm. We currently operate on a hybrid work model where most employees choose to split their working time between the office and home workspace, so it's important that you, as a manager, can lead in this way. Travel between Gothenburg and Stockholm occurs regularly.

Who are you?
To succeed in the role of Director within the Electric Power System group, we see that you should be well acquainted with the subject matter. You have a Ph.D. in engineering or a master's degree in a relevant field. You have several years of experience in research or consulting. It is advantageous if you have several years of managerial experience and preferably experience with publicly funded research projects or applications as well.

As a person, you are an experienced leader, responsive, collaborative, and ready to take on new challenges. You enjoy building teams and developing employees. You have excellent communication skills and can convey technical concepts to a broad audience, including technical experts and non-technical stakeholders such as funders and industrial partners. You will have contact with external partners and customers, so it's important that you’re outgoing and enjoy building networks and working customer-oriented. You are proficient in Swedish and English at a professional level in both speech and writing.
