Do you want to help our customers and partners transition to meet future challenges? Do you, like us at RISE, want to contribute to a competitive business environment and a sustainable society? Then you have found the right place!

About us
RISE Measurement Technology is the National Metrology Institute (NMI), which means that as Sweden's leading experts in measurement technology, we assist the entire country with measurement-related problems and questions. We develop new ways to measure, realize, and disseminate measurement technology in collaboration with academia, industry, and the rest of society. This can range from high-voltage measurements in smart grids to measurement sensors in self-driving vehicles.

We are now strengthening the Mechanics and Dynamics unit with a researcher or engineer based in Borås. We currently operate under a hybrid work model with some flexibility to work remotely.

About the position
You will work within the group for measuring mechanical quantities. Mechanics and dynamics are the foundation of our work, but within that, we work with a variety of disciplines that you will be able to participate and develop in, including physics, mathematics, electronics, software, digital signal processing, photonics, thermodynamics, simulation, and modeling.

Currently, we are seeking expertise in the following areas, and if you have experience and/or interest in any of them, you are of interest to us:

  • Measurement technology focusing on signal processing, analysis of large datasets, and modeling/digitalization/simulation of various applications.
  • Research projects aimed at developing new technology for more efficient measurements within a range of mechanical and dynamic applications. Examples of areas we work in include force, torque, weighing, vibrations, and sound pressure.
  • Mass/weighing. We need to both develop our advanced weighing lab and develop new methods and new technology for efficient weighing of various applications in industry and society.

The position also includes technical development work, project management, and participation in our calibration activities. You will collaborate with other parts of RISE and with customers, who may be both in Sweden and globally. It is an important task to disseminate expertise to industry and society and you are welcome to participate in training sessions in the future.

Who are you?
To succeed in this role, we think you have a strong theoretical background in mathematics and physics. You are inspired to work with applied research and development of technology in various measurement systems. You have at least an M.Sc. in physics, mathematics, electronics, mechanics, or a similar field with a strong drive to develop both yourself and your field. You are inspired to work with applied research and development of technology in various measurement systems; hence, a research background is advantageous.

You are practically oriented while also having the theoretical understanding of various technically complex systems. You can switch between holistic and detail-oriented perspectives and have the ability to quickly grasp new areas. You are driven by natural curiosity, enjoy challenges, and have the ability to inspire and enthuse people around you. Furthermore, you are communicative and good at collaborating. You are proficient in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Are we right for each other?
We offer significant opportunities for professional and competence development within a broad technical area. At RISE, you have access to a strong innovation infrastructure and colleagues with high competence in almost all technical areas. We have a large number of laboratory, testing, and demonstration environments that promote innovation.
