Would you like to become a part of a world-leading maritime research unit? Do you have a strong drive to contribute to societal development? Then we have the right position for you!

About Us
We conduct world-leading applied maritime research in several areas such as hydrodynamics, wind propulsion, maritime logistics, and research on defense-related issues. We take responsibility for both knowledge and method development for a sustainable maritime future. We are now looking for someone who, together with several experienced researchers, wants to take a leading role in the transformation of shipping.

Maritime logistics is part of the Maritime Research unit at RISE. Our goal is to always be at the forefront and meet the needs of customers and other stakeholders through a combination of experience, curiosity, and innovative thinking. We are an international team with people from several different countries and with a good mix of ages and genders. Most of us are based in Gothenburg, but there is an opportunity to live and work from another location. We currently operate on a hybrid work model where most employees choose to split their working time between the office and home workspace.

About the Role
You will work as a researcher and project manager in national and international research projects focusing on maritime logistics. The role includes both leading small and large projects, leading subprojects/work packages, and performing specific project tasks. You will be involved in the entire process, from project idea and application for public funding to implementation and dissemination of results. Dissemination of results occurs through written reports, scientific articles, popular science materials, and presentations at conferences or seminars. There will be ample opportunity to shape projects and project teams. You will collaborate with both external partners in research projects and various internal functions. The emphasis of the position is on research, but you will also work on commercial assignments directly with the industry.

The position involves national and international travel. For example, we continuously have several ongoing EU projects that involve participation in project meetings or presentations at seminars/conferences. Therefore, national and international travel occurs regularly. Since we sometimes work on classified projects, security clearance may be required.

Who are you?
We are looking for someone who is a researcher in logistics or supply chain management and who wants to develop new knowledge in maritime logistics. To succeed in the role, you have a PhD in technology. As a researcher, we prefer that you have experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methodology. We see that you have an interest in the needs of the industry, and it is advantageous if you have experience from the industry and have worked with logistics, e.g., in shipping, intermodal transportation, or port development. You have managed your own projects and participated in international projects. You also have experience in applying for public funding and in leading and participating in publications for conferences and scientific journals.

As a person, you are curious to explore both societal issues and the needs of the industry. You take a great responsibility in driving project work forward and identifying new project opportunities. Furthermore, you are communicative, relationship-building, and have good collaboration skills. Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is required, and it is advantageous if you speak Swedish.

Are we a Match?
Do you want to become part of a world-leading maritime research unit? RISE Maritime department is rapidly advancing, and together with dedicated and competent colleagues, you will contribute to a sustainable maritime future. We are a highly diversified group with international expertise that includes several different national origins. Here, you will have both great opportunities for impact and excellent opportunities to build your network within the industry!
