Unit Material Design within the Department Infrastructure and Concrete Technology works to develop new cementitious materials, concrete receipts for different types of applications, as well as apply new structural solutions for construction and infrastructure. Our strategic areas of development are: Concrete Technology, Structural analysis and condition assessment, Recycling and CCS/CCU, Alternative binders, and 3D concrete printing. Our unit works close with the largest cement and concrete producers, as well as entrepreneurs, infrastructure owners, public bodies, regulatory and standardisation committees I Sweden and internationally. The unit has 22 colleagues with interdisciplinary expertise in binder chemistry, material science, as well as civil and structural engineering.

About the position
Your work will be supporting function in projects and commercial assignments in collaboration with colleagues within the Department of Infrastructure and Concrete Construction as well as the whole of RISE. Work in the lab includes: binder/mortar testing (analytical methods), casting of cement and concrete, material testing (mechanical properties, durability, etc.), collaboration within the lab for 3D printing of concrete and also daily field visits. Collaboration and communication skills are crucial for the role, which involves participation in the project's technical implementation under the guidance of more experienced colleagues and reporting results to the project manager. You also have the opportunity to contribute to commissioned research or technical assignments such as e.g. support for companies in product development, advanced testing and investigations.

Initially, you will, among other things, work in projects linked to the development of climate-improved concrete and the reuse of concrete structures. You also get to contribute to a new research area within 3D printing of concrete.

The place of work is Borås.

Who are you?
You have a university degree in civil engineering or material science with experience in construction processes and materials or other relevant for the position.

Requirements:

  • B.Sc/M.Sc in civil engineering with experience from lab work or construction work.
  • Experience with one or some of the following: cement chemistry, concrete production, climate-improved concrete, design and testing of concrete elements, testing of concrete properties (mechanical, durability, etc.), 3D printing of concrete, application of recycled material in concrete, condition assessment of structures, non-destructive testing or monitoring methods.
  • English in speech and writing.

Additional advantage:

  • Experience of working with clients with business development/offer work and project management (budget, schedule, team management).
  • Knowledge and documented experience with condition assessment/investigations of concrete structures is advantageous.
  • Swedish in speech and writing
