Do you want to work with cutting-edge technology for a sustainable future? Do you have extensive knowledge in wet moulding? Then you might be the person we are looking for!

RISE is a united force for the sustainable transformation that the industry, the society, and the world need. As Sweden's research institute, we work on solutions and conditions that make a difference today and with the knowledge and technologies that may be critical tomorrow. In the ongoing transition towards a sustainable world, new packaging and materials play a significant role. Through large-scale industrial improvements and innovations, as well as researching new solutions, we can make a significant impact on reducing environmental footprints. This is a growing field where we need to expand and strengthen our expertise. We are now looking for a Senior Research Associate in wet moulding for the Biomaterials and Processes unit, who wants to help build, drive, and develop our operations moving forward.

About the Role
As a Senior Research Associate, you will establish and maintain connections within the industry and academia, as well as create internal contacts within RISE, where this role will be the key player in the wet moulding network.

You will primarily work in a project-based format, where together with colleagues and clients, you will design, execute, analyse, and document various research projects. You will be responsible for business development within the growing field of wet moulding, which currently consists of two production lines, one flexible batch process and one continuous industrial pilot.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and developing customer relations, building close connections with clients and partners resulting in joint research projects and contract research.
  • Scaling up from laboratory to pilot scale by applying research results in our pilot park.
  • Identifying problems and finding solutions together with industrial partners and clients.
  • Monitoring industry trends and maintaining contact with partners to stay on top with the field.
  • Providing advice both internally and externally, where various teams/projects need deep practical and technical knowledge related to wet moulding.
  • Working with prospects and business opportunities for the group, writing applications and proposals, and securing customer assignments and publicly funded research projects.
  • Leading processes and projects, ensuring effective deliveries, and maintaining operational synchronization among different stakeholders.

As this is a growing field, there are opportunities for the role to develop in different areas depending on your interests and expertise. You could develop in research, business development, and also leadership.

You will work with knowledgeable and committed colleagues based in two locations, Stockholm and Örnsköldsvik. The role is based in Stockholm, and you will report to the group manager.

Who are you?
To succeed in this role, you need to be an expert in wet moulding and have worked closely with wet forming processes in an industrial setting for many years. You hold a PhD and have a research background in chemistry, materials engineering or pulp and paper.

You have the ability to see opportunities and development potential based on industry needs. You are attentive to the needs of colleagues and the organization and engage your team and partners with inspiring and confident leadership. You are expected to be a driving force for the effective progress of our laboratory operations with a focus on the current and future needs of the market. You have strategic abilities and a broad perspective on the business.

  • You have hands-on experience in executing and leading large-scale laboratory operations in the field of wet forming.
  • You are a skilled communicator and adept at collaborating, coordinating, and presenting results.
  • You are used to planning work and executing it efficiently and operationally, delivering results.
  • You are business-minded, recognizing opportunities and finding solutions to problems.

You thrive in social settings and inspire trust in our clients and partners. You speak and write Swedish and English fluently.
