Now we are looking for a functional safety engineer with deep software and/or hardware expertise who will primarily work in customer assignments, but participation in research projects may also be relevant.

About us
The RISE department Electrification and Reliability works, among many things, with research, evaluation and testing that supports the development of sustainable transport systems with a focus on safety, electrification, and automation, but also industrial products and systems with similar needs. Battery and hydrogen technology in new powertrains and energy systems are also important areas for the department.

The Safe control system unit that you will belong to works both in the field of functional safety and machine safety for embedded systems and machines. We also work with information security and cyber security as well as evaluation and testing of various types of measuring instruments, medical equipment, alarm systems and data collection systems.

About the role
You will be part of a group with long and deep experience in functional security and information security where we expect you to contribute to our team with deep software and/or hardware knowledge and expertise in functional safety and/or machine safety.

In this role, you will be able to support Swedish industry and public sector with advanced evaluations and testing of complex products and systems. We have many assignments in the functional safety area in connection with the Machinery Directive, as both traditional and mobile machines are harmonized with this important directive.

With the right background, you can be a key person when we broaden our offerings to new industries and product areas. There will also be opportunities to give lectures, workshops and work with standardization and packaging of new offers.

Who are you?
We believe that you have a master or bachelor engineering degree or graduate student in electronics and/or computer technology. It is positive if you have previous experience of functional safety and have knowledge of any of the standard’s ISO 13849 (PL), IEC 61508 (SIL), ISO 26262 (ASIL), IEC 62443, ISO 15118, IEC 60601- 1, IEC 62304, SSF1120-1, Welmec 7.2 / 7.5 / 7.6, OIML D31 and respectively OWASP.

It’s also an advantage if you have industry experience from manufacturing, automotive, railway, or medical technology.

You have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.

It is also important that you are communicative and have the interest and ability to develop new offers and business opportunities and take responsibility for your assignments from start to finish. You are flexible, can work independently and at the same time thrive as a part of a team.
