At RISE, we work together with industry, academia and public financiers to build new businesses and lead the development within the circular bioeconomy. We generate, develop and upscale research ideas and results to create value for the industry. We now need to strengthen our competence within paper chemistry further, so that we with our unique lab and pilot facilities can face the challenges of tomorrow within the value chain of papermaking. About the position
In the field of paper chemistry, we work with both process chemistry and functional chemistry, with the goal of achieving increased functionality of paper and board as well as optimization of the entire manufacturing process or in developing new materials from the papermaking processes.

In your role as paper chemist with us the main tasks will be:

  • To initiate business with companies within or with links to the forest industry
  • To find internal and/or external funding to run research projects based on new ideas
  • To participate in projects with researchers, research engineers and project managers at RISE where you will contribute with paper chemistry expertise as well as your industrial knowledge
  • To plan studies and trials, analyze, report and present results to the client
  • To contribute to the market analysis of the field

The position involves travel in Sweden and abroad, primarily with the aim of initiating business. We have offices in several locations in Sweden and for this position we are primarily looking for a person to our office in Stockholm. This is a full-time position.

Your profile
You have a PhD or MSc within relevant field in combination with experience from working at a company within the paper industry, such as paper producer or a chemical supplier. You speak and write English fluently. Good skills in the Swedish language is meritorious.

You have good knowledge about the unit processes within papermaking, their challenges and the opportunities. We think that you like to work with applied research in lab scale as well as pilot scale based on the client’s needs. You see new possibilities, have new ideas and can formulate hypotheses, by yourself or together with others. You enjoy working as a problem solver, and have excellent team working skills.
