Sweden is facing a gigantic transformation of the energy system, and RISE has a natural role in that work. Together with business and the public sector, we develop competitive solutions and conditions that drive sustainable development forward. But we need to become more. We need your help. Help test and implement new solutions together. Help show that it is possible to reach the climate goals with sustainable growth. Do you want to become one of us? We hope so!

About us
As part of the sustainable transition, there is great interest in producing chemicals and fuels from bio-based and circular raw materials. RISE operations within Energy Technology in Piteå conduct research and development within thermochemical conversion processes and more specifically pyrolysis. The research is largely carried out in our dedicated pilot facilities and often in collaboration with customers and academic partners as well as with other parts within RISE. In recent years, the interest in our services has expanded greatly, and we are now looking for a researcher with competence in our fields.

About the role
As a researcher with us, you will be part of our research group in pyrolysis/upgrading, an area where we have several funded and ongoing projects. Our projects often include both theoretical modeling and experimental campaigns, and we develop new methods and experimental setups to answer the current research questions. In your role as a researcher, you are expected to design experiments and modeling in order to answer the research questions, interpret the results from these and compile them into reports, presentations as well as scientific articles. Together with your colleagues, you will also participate in the development of our business going forward through, for example, applications, customer contacts and new collaborations. You have good opportunities to shape your own research projects.

Location for the role is Piteå.

Who are you?
We believe that you have a PhD in a relevant subject, preferably chemistry, chemical engineering, thermochemical conversion processes, energy engineering or similar. We also believe that you have an interest in contributing to the transition to a sustainable industry. In addition to this, we also believe that you have:

  • Documented scientific experience in a relevant or related field (pyrolysis, catalytic upgrading).
  • Practical leadership skills.
  • Documented experience in project management.
  • An established relevant professional network in the field.

Furthermore, we value that you have good cooperation skills. You communicate well, both in writing and orally, in English. The Swedish language is meritorious.

As a person, you are driven, structured, a good problem solver and can work independently. You are good at compiling research results in scientific articles and can also present and explain your work to others with different experiences and backgrounds.

Are we right for each other?
Within RISE, we like different, and we are convinced that diversity contributes to an innovative environment where together we challenge boundaries and develop new knowledge and skills for the future. Here, passionate problem solvers meet to solve some of the world's most important, and perhaps most interesting, problems. We can't promise you an easy job, but what we can promise you is a bunch of committed colleagues and some exciting societal challenges to tackle. You will work in a dynamic environment that gives you development opportunities both professionally and personally. With us, you get the opportunity to make a real difference. Welcome to all of Sweden's research institutes and innovation partners!
