About us
As part of the sustainable transition, there is great interest in producing chemicals and fuels from bio-based and circular raw materials. RISE operations in energy technology in Piteå conduct research and development in thermochemical conversion processes. The work is largely carried out in our dedicated pilot facilities and often in project collaborations together with customers and academic partners as well as with other parts within RISE. In recent years, our operations have expanded and we are now looking for both recent graduates and more senior research and development engineers with competence in our fields.

About the position
As a research and development engineer with us, you will be part of our competence team in pyrolysis/upgrading, an area where we have several funded and ongoing projects. You will be part of various project groups that work to implement projects and assignments mainly in pyrolysis but also other thermochemical processes. Your tasks include:

• Planning and preparation of trial campaigns
• Implementation of trial campaigns, both independently and as part of a team, incl. sampling and analysis of samples
• Results compilation and documentation
• Maintenance and development of experimental setups

Depending on experience and ability, you may also directly or in the long-term be project manager for projects. Our projects often include both theoretical modeling and experimental campaigns, and we develop new methods and experimental setups to answer the current research questions. We also carry out field assignments on site at industrial customers. Together with your colleagues, you will also participate in the development of our business in the area through application work, customer contacts and the establishment of new collaborations.

Location is Piteå. Form of employment by agreement.

Who are you?
We are looking for you who have a bachelor or master’s degree in engineering, for example in mechanical, chemical or energy engineering, or have acquired equivalent knowledge in another way. We are recruiting for several positions and are looking for both you who are relatively recent graduates and you who have more work experience. If you have work experience, you are expected to have good knowledge in pyrolysis and/or other thermochemical conversion processes (combustion, gasification, liquefaction), and it is advantageous to have experience in project and/or work management. You have good computer skills, mainly in the Office package, but simulation software is an advantage.

As a person, you are practical, driven, a good problem solver and have good communication skills. You are flexible when unexpected situations arise and keep an eye on the details of your projects. You can work independently, are meticulous and can see what needs to be done. We value that you have good cooperation skills. You communicate well, both in writing and orally, in English. The Swedish language is meritorious.
