The Computer Systems unit at RISE in Kista is looking for a researcher in the area of hardware-near system software.

About the position
The Computer Systems unit within the Computer Science department at RISE performs leading research and development together with industrial and public sector partners, as well as in EU and national research projects in the areas of system software, compilers, stream processing, AI/ML platforms, and AI/ML applications. The Computer Science department spans a wide spectrum of competences, from cyber security, IoT embedded systems, datacenter technologies, industrial data analysis, to AI platforms and applications. Computer hardware is evolving at a rapid pace, with new processor architectures being introduced in the market, e.g. GPU/TPUs, ARM, and RISC-V.

We are now looking to strengthen our team in the area of system software on the border between hardware and software. As a Researcher in our team, you get the opportunity to work in a growing and leading institute with great development opportunities. You become an important team player in a committed team with high competence and who value working in close collaboration, both within the team and with our partners and customers. In your role as a Researcher, you will work with all stages of research, including project definitions, consortium formation, funding applications, project work and reporting. The work also includes having contacts with stakeholders and customers, sharing competence and experiences.

Your most important duties are:

  • Perform leading research in the area of hardware-near system software, strengthening RISE and Sweden position related to processor and semi-conductor strategies
  • Collaborate with projects in adjacent areas at all levels within RISE.
  • Actively engage in consortium formation and seeking project funding towards public financing and industrial assignments
  • Supervising students

Who are you?
As a Researcher with us, we believe that you are a passionate and solution-oriented person who likes to take on new opportunities. Since the role involves contact with customers and other stakeholders, we believe that you enjoy social contexts and like to transform ideas into experiments and understanding. Through your understanding and flexible approach, you come to your right in an environment that is dynamic. You have a PhD degree within the research area. You have experience with international research projects within the EU research context. You have experience with supervising students. Since our partners are both in and outside Sweden, we see that you have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.

Are we right for each other?
At RISE we like differencies and we are convinced that diversity contributes to an innovative environment where we together challenge boundaries and develop new knowledge for the future. With us, passionate problem solvers meet to solve some of the world's most important, and perhaps most fun, problems. We can't promise you a simple job, but what we can promise you is a bunch of committed colleagues and some really exciting societal challenges to deal with. You will work in a dynamic environment that gives you development opportunities both professionally and personally. With us you get the opportunity to make a real difference. Welcome to all of Sweden's research institutes and innovation partners.
