About us
The Product Design unit at RISE in the department of agriculture and food is searching for researcher with focus on volatile compound analytics or aroma chemistry. Our unit consists of 24 colleagues working with technology and design of foods and other materials, assisting industry with product development and applied research. We work with products from the food, hygiene, pharma or agriculture industries. We combine expertise in practical experimental activities and test beds, with advanced instrumental analysis of food structure, materials science and aroma chemistry.

The role
The role as researcher in the field of aroma chemistry (odorous volatile compounds) includes generating and managing projects together with industrial customers, public partners, and partners from academia. It also includes responsibility for the delivery of scientific and technical results in accordance with budget and time plan. In addition, method development, coordination, and active participation in practical work in our aroma chemistry facilities are all aspects that are included in the work.

We focus on applied research and all work is conducted in collaboration with our customers, who range from SMEs to large multinational companies. Part of the work is therefore also on establishing and maintaining a network within industry and with public funding agencies. The work is always in close collaboration with other colleagues and competences, within and outside RISE.

Who are you?
You have a PhD degree in analytical chemistry, food science, aroma science or similar and experience with gas chromatography coupled analytical techniques. You like analytical challenges and look for solutions. You like working together with colleagues and external partners both within academia and industry. You are experienced in independently generating and performing research projects within the field of volatile compound analytics, involving gas chromatography methodologies. You like generating new research projects, designing experiments, and executing analytical evaluations using GC-FID/MS/FPD and or GC-olfactometry as well as performing data analysis and reporting thereof. Being experienced with Thermo Scientific Chromeleon and or Agilent Masshunter software is a strong merit. You enjoy maintaining and developing customer contacts.

You are fluent in English, both in writing and verbally, and good knowledge in Swedish is a strong merit.
