Are you passionate about lab work and the use of hydrogen in energy applications? Are you interested in development of fuel cells, electrolysis, and automation of test setups. Do you even have experience of hydrogen systems, fuel cells or electrolysis? Then you are the person we’re looking for!

Sweden is facing a gigantic transformation of the energy system, and in that transformation, RISE will play a big part. Together with industry, academia, and the public sector, we develop competitive solutions and conditions that drive sustainable development forward. But we need to grow, and we need your help. Your help to find new solutions for a sustainable future, together. Do you want to join us? We hope so!

About us
At Energy Conversion we are working with research within the area of electrification, from components within batteries and fuel cells, to complete concept and application studies. When the societal challenges become more complex, a powerful innovation partner is needed to offer solid support and contribute with several perspectives. The Energy Conversion team performs customer adapted research and contributes with expertise and strategic advice, supporting the development of a sustainable system within targeted technical areas. We cooperate with large and small companies, research institutes, and universities around common challenges. We are now expanding our team with the aim of supporting our industrial partners and public sector partners in the transformation towards a fossil free energy system. We are looking for a person who wants to work with analysis and to actively drive development forward.

About the role
The focus of the position is lab related research within the area of fuel cells, electrolysis, and hydrogen systems. Primarily, this role is about conducting qualitative tests within our research projects but also, to a large extent, about development of our lab environments within this domain to keep them fit for purpose. As a researcher/lab technician in our group, you will work with improving our test setups for accurate measurements concerning fuel cell and electrolysis components. You will work with research in the domain of hydrogen including writing reports and funding applications. Your work is important to support the transformation to sustainable energy sources. Our team is the research hub within RISE for electrification of transport focusing on fuel cells, batteries and electrochemical hydrogen production, and you will complement our internal and external networks with your own unique competence and background.

You will be an important and valued team player in a dedicated and innovative group with significant competence, that values close cooperation within the team, with other departments and of course with our external partners. We understand the importance of teamwork when it comes to developing new innovations, and we consider you and your unique competence to be an essential part in strengthening our ability to innovate and lead research and development within hydrogen production and usage applications. While teamwork is essential you will also be expected to drive activities forward independently when necessary.

Location: Borås

Who are you?
To become successful in the role we believe that you have a great interest and curiosity for electrochemical characterisation of fuel cells and electrolysers, and are structured, analytical, flexible, and dynamic. Furthermore, you have the ability of working both independently and in different teams. You work scientifically and dynamically in a structured manner while searching for solutions to complex questions, where you may also involve the team and other colleagues from across RISE. You have a MSc or higher degree in an appropriate engineering field or scientific domain as well as some work experience. It is meriting to have experience with lab work especially from hydrogen fuel cell or electrolysis. You have good communication skills in English and proficiency in Swedish is desirable. Earlier experience of writing applications and participation in research or development projects is considered a merit.

Are we right for each other?
Within RISE we are convinced that diversity contributes to an innovative environment where we together challenge boundaries and develop new knowledge and competence for the future. We won’t promise you an easy job, but we can promise you an exciting journey where we contribute together to a safe and sustainable future.
