Are you a curious chemist or chemical engineer? Do you have interest in working experimentally in lab? Then you are well suited to be our next employee.

We are now looking for chemists/chemical engineers for our emission and analytical labs in Borås.

About us
RISE Research Institutes of Sweden is Sweden’s research institute and innovation partner. Today we are two chemical units in Borås, with in total 37 persons, working with Chemistry within the department Chemistry and Applied Mechanics. The Chemical Product Safety unit is recruiting a Research and Development Engineer for the team in Borås, Sweden. We are looking for a curious and practical chemist or engineer with general knowledge in chemistry, preferably analytical chemistry. Our unit has a wide range of expertise and well-equipped modern laboratories, covering also test equipment from lab to demo scale.

About the role
We are offering stimulating and flexible work, where you will mainly work with industrial tasks. As Research and Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the whole chain; customer contacts, sample preparation, testing, evaluation and writing reports. You will participate in our extensive accredited emission lab environment, where e.g. construction and interior product materials are controlled for emission of chemicals to air according to different standards, e.g. ISO methods. We have a close dialogue with our customers and deliver results with high quality in order to meet their demands or in accordance with the standards. This is a teamwork, together with highly competent colleagues and there is an open atmosphere to discuss new ideas and complex requests.

The main workplace is in Borås but traveling to customers and research partners is part of the task.

Who are you?
In order to succeed we believe that the work requires that you are curious, business oriented and that you enjoy working in a team. You need to have an interest in working experimentally in lab. It is very beneficial if you are self-driven, structured and have the ability to learn new tasks relatively fast.

Since the majority of the work is based on customer related tasks, the customer focus is very central, but there are also interactions with e.g. authorities. Experience in accredited work according to ISO 17025 and emission laboratory work is meriting. The teamwork is handled in either Swedish or English and the reporting is normally in English, making those skills meriting.

We are searching for a person with an academic examination within chemistry or chemical engineering. Analyses of samples are mainly performed within our own chemical laboratories for both inorganic and organic analyses. Therefore, it is meriting if you have a specific analytical chemistry competence, e.g. in ICP, GC-MS and/or HPLC.

In summary, the requirements are:

  • M.Sc. in chemical engineering or academic degree in chemistry or other relevant education
  • High level in spoken and written English

It is also meriting to have:

  • Some years of relevant work experience (from industry or university)
  • High scientific competence and understanding of industrial challenges
  • Experience from laboratory work
  • Basic level in Swedish language

We offer a stimulating and flexible work environment where you will mainly work with industrial assignments performing theoretical and practical laboratory work and solving chemical problems.

Are we right for each other?
At RISE, we appreciate differences, and we are convinced that diversity contributes to an innovative environment where we together challenge boundaries and develop new knowledge and skills for the future. With us, passionate problem solvers meet to solve some of the world's most important problems.
