Do you want to be part of strengthening the competitiveness of Swedish businesses while also addressing challenges within the public sector? Are you an analytical person who always seeks personal development? Are you curious, self-motivated, and thrive in meeting new people? If this describes you, then you are exactly who we are looking for!
About Us
Within the Electric power systems unit, our project portfolio consists of research and innovation projects that combine both technical and economic perspectives. We explore how electric power systems should be developed, maintained, and operated, as well as the development of the electricity market with regulatory and policy issues. In addition to our research projects, we also take on specialist assignments. Our projects range from short-term to multi-year assignments, often in collaboration with colleagues from other units within RISE.
We are a team of 16 researchers, engineers, and project managers who enjoy collaborating. Together, we represent nine different nationalities, and our projects span both within and outside of Sweden. Half of the team is located in Gothenburg and half in Stockholm, so the placement can be in either of these cities. We are operating under a hybrid working model where most employees choose to split their work time between the office and their home workspace.
About the Electric Power System
The power system plays an increasingly central role in the transformation of the Swedish energy system. The electrification of the industrial and transportation sectors is a significant driving force behind this development. Sweden is facing substantial investments in electricity production and transmission, and forecasts indicate a significant growth in both energy and capacity for the first time in several years. RISE contributes to this development with analysis and solutions by creating and conducting research, innovation, and development projects in collaboration with companies, universities, colleges, institutes, and the public sector.
About the Role
We are looking for a researcher who can address the challenges of the Electric power system, both now and in the future. The role involves various tasks, including power grid simulations, analysis of the impact on the power grid in future scenarios with reduced grid inertia, the development of new support services related to voltage and frequency, system protection, and much more. The role provides opportunities to take research results, whether new or old, and apply them to improve the operation of the power system. Your tasks can be solved individually, within the unit, or multidisciplinarily within RISE, often with input from academia and industry.
To contribute to a sustainable society, we encourage you to delve into new areas, supported by internal focus areas and growth areas.
Who Are You?
To succeed in the role as a researcher within our unit, we see that you should be well-versed in the subject. You have a Ph.D. in engineering or a master's degree in a relevant field. You have several years of experience in research or consulting within the field of Electric power systems. Experience in project management, especially with multiple collaborators, is advantageous, and you have a good understanding of the future challenges of society and various stakeholders.
It is also advantageous if you have experience in any of the following:
As a person, you are analytical, creative, collaborative, and ready to take on new challenges. Independence is an important quality in this role, and you should be comfortable performing tasks and projects independently. You will have contact with external project collaborators and customers, so it's important that you're outgoing and enjoy building networks. You're proficient in Swedish and English at a professional level, both in speech and writing.
